A few of you might remember I posted a photo on Flickr when I was working on a new location tracker based on Google Latitude. As an avid Dopplr user I was always interested in technology capable of tracking individual person's location. In the meantime I finished working on this tracker, but was always kinda uncertain if I wanted my location being published to my website automatically. Now I decided - just do it. If I feel someone's observing or tracking me down it's quickly disabled and switched off again. For many off you this might be super scary, anyway I feel I need to pioneer this one now.
Attached below are two screenshots. One of the regular website, the other of the 'locate' layer, as I call it. Pretending to be on a trip from Berlin to Hamburg, I captured what it would look like. The app is constantly refreshing with my most recent location, the trace gets deleted over time.
So, stalkers, if you feel like tracking me down, at least say hello and invite me to a coffee if you 'accidentally' stumble in my way. I'd appreciate you doing so...

No way. What marketing idiot came up with this idea? Why would anybody install a special browser for just one website? Walled garden, anybody?

When I video-chatted with dad yesterday, which I don't do too often since he isn't a big talker, he revealed proudly that he's investing a big chunk of money again in another roof being planted full with photovoltaics. It's quite a trend the last couple of years in South Germany, since renewable energies are backed by the government. The first investment of that kind was stocking up the multiple roofs of granny's house, since our own house has no optimal angle to the sun. The generated power is fed into the national grid and is hopefully replacing a few of the devastating coal plants over the next years...
Though, what I'm really proud of the most is that over the years it seems dad got really convinced in the sense of green energy. Not just the investment and the opportunity to make money. I like that he's taking the full highly innovative approach. It's the newest equipment available on the market and he's using the web to get reports from his facilities. Checking email early in the morning to see yesterday's report of sun efficiency was nothing I ever thought dad would be fond of. Even more I love to see the spark in his eyes when he's talking about it. It seems one thing we share is a great passion for innovation and new technology...

My first harbor tour this summer. Elbphilharmonie is developing. Hamburg's enjoying one of the rather cool but sunny summer days.

Hej rare viewports, this is for you. Adjust the width of your browser window to almost any size you like, this website will accommodate its content and makes room for your fantasies. Tiny, small, medium or super large...
With this new ability my 'lifestream' should be accessible on almost all devices, thx to the code customization I did earlier to be compatible with mobile browsers. It's not perfect but it works. Hope you like it!

Who else is seeing this Oops...an error occured message upon sharing items in Google Reader? It's really annoying and I get it for weeks if not months already. Trying again after a few seconds has never worked for me. Would so love to share articles again, but I don't know what causes the problem...
